Os Papéis · Quem vende
Customer success manager
Escrito a partir de fontes publicadas
The person who owns the relationship after the sale closes. Customer success grew out of subscription business, where the revenue arrives in instalments and every one of them is a decision the customer makes again. The role guides onboarding, adoption and expansion, and it is separated deliberately from support, which is reactive, and from the account executive, who owns new business.
De quem recebe
- Sales
- The account, and whatever expectations were set to win it.
- The product's telemetry
- What the customer actually uses, which is frequently different from what they say.
- Support
- The friction, arriving as tickets before it arrives as sentiment.
A quem serve
- The customer's sponsor
- Progress toward the outcome they are accountable for internally.
- The vendor
- Retention, which in subscription business is most of the revenue.
- Product management
- Evidence of where adoption stalls, which is a roadmap input with numbers attached.
Do que o trabalho depende
Satisfaction and retention are different measurements, and the distance between them is the job. A customer can be entirely happy and still leave, because their priorities moved and nobody on the vendor side noticed — which makes the useful question whether the customer is achieving outcomes that justify continued investment, rather than whether they are pleased. Managers who ask the second question find the risk in time; those who ask the first find it at the renewal.
