Configuring BIG-IP LTM

Local Traffic Manager

Durée3 daysFormatÀ distance ou en présentielPublished versionNot stated publicly

Local Traffic Manager is the load-balancing and traffic-management heart of BIG-IP, and this course builds a working command of it, from commonly used features through more advanced functionality. Students learn to configure virtual servers, pools and load-balancing methods, tune application health monitoring and apply the right kind of persistence. The advanced portion covers options such as VLAN tagging and trunking, SNMP, packet filters and route domains, customising delivery with iRules and local traffic policies, and mitigating common network-layer and application-layer attacks with LTM features.

  • F5 asks for a basic understanding of BIG-IP local traffic concepts (virtual servers, pools, health monitors and profiles) and suggests familiarity with web application delivery, TCP, HTTP and TLS/SSL.

Related certification, by topic overlap (not a vendor statement): F5 Certified Technology Specialist, BIG-IP LTM (F5-CTS, BIG-IP LTM)

F5 does not publish a course-to-exam mapping on a public page: its certification-training page asks for a sign-in (checked 25 October 2026). This pairing is the instructor's reading of where the course topics and the exam objectives overlap, not a vendor statement.

No course awards a certification by itself: a credential comes only from passing the vendor's exam or assessment.

No fixed next course.

F5 publishes no fixed course to follow this one. The module courses build on the same BIG-IP base, so the next course is the one for the module your team runs.
