Cyble - selling what it also gives away
Threat intelligence company covering dark web monitoring, attack surface management and takedowns.
Cyble is a threat intelligence company whose platform covers cyber threat intelligence, dark web monitoring, attack surface management, brand protection and takedown services, with a research laboratory publishing regional threat landscape reports.
It illustrates something structural about this category rather than anything unique to itself. Threat intelligence cannot be demonstrated the way a firewall can: the product is a claim about what the vendor knows, and a prospective buyer has no way to test that claim from outside. So the companies in it publish - research reports, threat actor profiles, and in this case a news title of its own - and give away lookup tools that answer a single question against the same data the paid product runs on.
That arrangement is worth understanding before reading any vendor’s threat research, including the good ones. The publication is genuine work and it is also the demonstration, and both things are true at once.
The service list is also a map of where security work has moved. Alongside the expected intelligence feeds sit brand protection, executive monitoring, and takedown and disruption - having fraudulent domains and impersonating accounts removed. That is closer to enforcement than to engineering, and it is now sold beside the technical products on the same platform.
