RFC 6214 (IP over Avian Carriers for IPv6)
loreA 2011 April Fools' RFC that formally adapts RFC 1149's avian carrier transport to IPv6.
Published on 1 April 2011, RFC 6214 exists because IPv6 migration documents were being written for every other transport and the authors followed the pattern to its conclusion. The serious content underneath is a checklist of what actually changes when a protocol moves to IPv6 - address size, header format, neighbour discovery - applied to a carrier that flaps. Twenty-one years separate it from RFC 1149, which is a long time for a joke to stay maintained.
