Stands for: Objectives and Key Results

Objectives and Key Results - Andy Grove's goal-setting discipline from Intel: a qualitative ambition, measured by a few brutally quantitative results.

An Objective says where you are going ('make the platform the obvious choice'); its Key Results say how you will know you arrived (numbers, dates, thresholds - graded, not vibes). Grove built the practice at Intel; John Doerr carried it to a forty-person Google in 1999, and its spread from there made it the tech industry's default planning grammar, popularized in Doerr's Measure What Matters. The discipline that separates working OKRs from wall decoration: key results are outcomes, not tasks; ambitious enough that 70 percent is a good score; and few enough to remember without looking.
