Multilink PPP

acronym

networking

Stands for: Multilink PPP (MP / ML-PPP)

Multilink PPP - bundling several physical links into one logical PPP connection for more bandwidth.

Multilink PPP (MP) fragments traffic across multiple links - two ISDN B-channels, several serial lines - and reassembles it at the far end, presenting one pipe of their combined capacity. It was the classic way to get more than a single circuit's throughput before cheap high-speed links, common on ISDN and bonded T1s, and it relies on the same LCP/authentication machinery as plain PPP.

Also known as: ml-ppp, multilink ppp, mlppp, mp, bundle
