A network of compromised machines controlled as one, often for attacks or spam.
Each infected device (a "bot" or "zombie") answers to a common command-and-control, letting an operator wield thousands of machines at once, most infamously to launch DDoS floods. The owners usually have no idea their device has enlisted.
