A vendor product category - detonation sandboxes, mail and web filtering with behavioural analysis, endpoint detection bundled under one name - sold as the answer to advanced threats. Three letters away from APT, and constantly confused with it.
Keep them straight: APT is the adversary, ATP is the thing you buy because of the adversary. The confusion is not accidental - the product name was built to echo the threat name. The useful discipline when reading a datasheet is to ask which specific behaviours the product detects, because advanced threat protection is a marketing category rather than a defined capability, and two products under the same label may share nothing at all.
