Packet Velocity ASIC is BIG-IP's hardware fast path. In full or assisted mode it offloads established, simple flows to silicon, freeing the software TMM for connections that need Layer 7 processing.
Packet Velocity ASIC is F5 hardware that forwards simple flows without involving the general-purpose processor, so a connection that needs no inspection is handled at silicon speed while anything requiring policy goes to software.
