Red Education's own courses

For more than twenty years Red Education has taught the vendors' own courses under their authorisation, with instructors many of whom came from those vendors and from their largest customers. Now those experts write courses of their own. The FastTrack series is original Red Education courseware, designed and delivered by Red Education for people at the start of the work: junior and aspiring engineers, system administrators moving into security, anyone in their first three years. Two FastTrack courses are open, more are planned, and an on-demand video course on Palo Alto Networks sits beside them.

  • FastTrack series · Course 01

Open NGFW: Next-Generation Firewall Foundational Training

A first course for engineers new to firewalls and, in Red Education's words, "100% Red Education original IP". Every learner builds, breaks and fixes a live next-generation firewall of their own, and practises the operating method senior engineers rely on: read the ticket, know the blast radius and the rollback before touching anything, troubleshoot from the logs, and escalate with evidence. The skills transfer to any firewall platform.

    Format
Half a day, live and instructor-led: two sessions of 120 minutes in one sitting
    Content
10 modules and 5 hands-on labs, for 16 learners at most
    Lab
Your own OPNsense firewall with Zenarmor, and 7 days of lab pod access
    Level
Foundational: roughly 0 to 3 years in network or security roles, no firewall experience assumed
    Included
A course companion and a student lab guide, a verified digital badge through Credly, and the REDiUP alumni community
  • FastTrack series · Course 02

    Network Fundamentals for Security Practitioners

How a connection actually travels, taught as a method rather than as a list of facts. Learners trace one live connection from the client through name resolution, the gateway, address translation and the firewall to the service; read the evidence that DNS, DHCP, NAT and the firewall's flow logs leave behind; halve the problem until the fault has nowhere left to hide; and finish with a five-line escalation that says where the connection broke and why. Vendor-neutral, on Linux endpoints and a firewall, with faults planted in each learner's own lab.

    Format
Two live, instructor-led virtual sessions of two hours
    Content
12 modules in two sessions: knowing the path, then the clues failures leave
    Lab
Your own live network for 7 days, to trace, diagnose and prove
    Level
    Foundational: no networking experience assumed
    Included
A course companion with every slide and its full notes, and a verified digital badge through Credly
  • On demand

    Palo Alto Networks On-Demand

Four key Palo Alto Networks topics on video, presented by a Palo Alto Networks certified instructor with enterprise experience: Firewall Essentials (EDU-210), Cortex XSIAM, Cortex XDR and preparing for the exam. By Red Education's own description it is a topic overview to build practical understanding, not a complete training course or a certification programme: a way in before the official courses, which Red Education also teaches as a global authorised training partner for Palo Alto Networks.

    Format
On-demand video, at your own pace, on a computer, tablet or phone
    Content
3 hours in four topics: EDU-210 Firewall Essentials (1 h 15 min), Cortex XSIAM (30 min), Cortex XDR (55 min), exam preparation (32 min)
    Access
    365 days from purchase
    Level
No Palo Alto Networks experience needed; some networking and security familiarity helps

The FastTrack courses run on three regional schedules: Americas, Europe and Singapore time, which also covers Australia and New Zealand, Asia and India. Companies can pay by purchase order, and team bookings can be arranged, depending on the course.

Understanding Cyber Security Career Paths

A free digital booklet from Red Education, sixty pages long, written for people choosing a path in cyber security, climbing one, or changing careers into it. It maps the profession as seven streams (governance, vulnerability testing, security operations, forensics, incident response, threat analysis and security design) that rise from the associate-level security analyst through analyst and manager roles to the chief information security officer. Each of its fourteen roles gets a job description, the technical skills and personal qualities it needs with the proficiency expected at each, and its key functions and tasks.

It complements two parts of this site. The Roles describes each position from the inside: what it answers for, who it receives from, who it serves and how it is measured. The Practice describes how the work itself is done. The booklet adds the ladder: the skills each step needs, and how well. Its streams line up with the security roles in The Roles like this:

Part 1

Why Red Education

Who Red Education is in its own published figures and words: its scale and reach, the vision and values it states, and how it says it works.

Who they are

Founded in 2005, Red Education is a specialist IT and cyber security training company that has trained more than 120,000 learners across 132 countries, holding a 4.9-star average rating from more than 5,000 reviews.

Training is delivered by more than 50 instructors, many certified across multiple vendors, in classroom, virtual, and on-site formats across five global regions: the Americas, Australasia, SAARC, ASEAN, and EMEA.

Vision and values

In Red Education's own words.

Vision

We are passionate about empowering every student with the necessary skills and knowledge by providing the ultimate technical training experience.

Delivered in an environment that supports quality adoption and understanding.

We successfully enable and deploy IT training solutions across our valued customer ecosystems.

Values

  • We believe in our product.
  • We exceed our customers' expectations.
  • We show enthusiasm in serving our clients.
  • We exhibit exceptional behaviours.
  • Harmony, we all share one voice.

How the company says it works

Red Education publishes a culture statement, and these are the eight things it commits to. Summarised here in my own words; the original is linked below, and it is worth reading if you are considering working with them or for them.

  • Diversity vision. Equal access to information, development and opportunity, stated as a business position rather than a policy annex: a company selling training across five regions has to understand the markets it teaches in.
  • Recruitment. Equal-opportunity hiring judged on demonstrable experience and fit for the role, with the argument that a workforce drawn from many countries is what makes an international training business legible to its customers.
  • Career development. Promotion on performance, with managers trained in evaluating fairly - the part that decides whether the rest of it is real.
  • Community programmes. Named reporting procedures for discrimination and harassment, follow-up to prevent recurrence, and partnerships with community groups.
  • Global markets. The claim that a workforce reflecting its customers serves them better, which for a company teaching in Asia Pacific, the Americas, Europe, India and the Middle East is an operational point rather than a sentiment.
  • Diversity bodies. A committee of champions drawn from every level of the company, responsible for keeping the policy present in day-to-day decisions.
  • Diversity practices. Training for all employees, flexible hours, education assistance, employee networks, parental and childcare support, and mentorship.
  • Five ways to act on it. The statement ends with commitments rather than aspirations: integrate it into strategy, set measurable targets with dates, educate senior leadership, communicate it plainly, and make the business case understood throughout the organisation.
“No one said it would be easy. But it can be done”— Red Education, on putting the diversity statement into practice

What Red Education enables

The vendor authorisations Red Education holds, the recognition those vendors have given it, and the course explainers it publishes for each platform. This is Red Education's list; the author's own four platforms are named in the next part.

Vendor authorizations

Red Education delivers vendor-accredited training as an authorized partner of the world's leading network and security vendors, including:

Recognition

  • Best F5 ATC Award 2020/21, with a 98% customer satisfaction rating on F5 courses.
  • Fortinet Training Institute ATC Partner of the Year for APAC (2026 ATC Awards).

The course explainers Red Education publishes

Red Education writes an explainer for each platform it trains on: what the courses cover, what they lead to, and how they fit a career. Ten are published, and these are all of them, ordered with the platforms I teach first. Worth reading before you choose a course, because they say more about outcomes than a course outline does.

Read on 6 October 2026. Of the platforms I deliver, F5 and Extreme Networks have no explainer published at the time of reading; their vendor pages carry the course listings instead.

Beyond training: professional services

Red Education also runs a professional services practice, delivered by vendor-certified engineers and by consultants drawn from vendor and large-enterprise backgrounds: installations, software upgrades and migrations to new hardware, health checks, work that runs from detailed design through post-cutover support and knowledge transfer, resident on-site engineers, and consultants on demand.

That practice is Red Education's, not mine: my own work there is teaching and advisory. Where a decision I advise on leads to implementation, the advisory page sets out where my part ends and who could carry the work on.

Where my work fits

The four platforms Rodolfo Nützmann teaches through Red Education, the proof that is verifiable, and where to book.

Rodolfo at Red Education

Rodolfo Nützmann has taught through Red Education since 2021, and full-time as a Senior Technical Instructor since 2023. Through Red Education, he delivers authorized instructor-led training for F5, Fortinet, Netskope, and Extreme Networks to students around the world.

Red Education's own case study on upskilling 43 engineers at a global IT firm names Rodolfo among the instructors who delivered the training. Read the case study ↗

Part 4

The bench

The instructors as a team: the aggregate figures and the externally conferred awards, with no bios of colleagues.

The bench

I am one instructor among a global team. The numbers below are Red Education's own published figures, and the awards are conferred by the vendors rather than claimed.

  • Founded 2005, in Sydney
  • 120,000+ learners trained
  • 50+ instructors, many certified across several vendors
  • Five regions: Australasia, ASEAN, SAARC, EMEA, Americas
  • 49% growth in student enrolments

Recognition, externally conferred

  • Palo Alto Networks Authorised Training Partner of the Year, JAPAC - eleven consecutive years
  • Palo Alto Networks Global Instructor of the Year - 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
  • Gold Stevie Award, Global Partnership of the Year 2025, for the Check Point partnership
  • Gold Stevie Award, Achievement in Certification Programs
  • Check Point Platinum Elite ATC and Global ATC Provider of the Year

Among the instructors publicly recognised is Jerry Solomon, named Palo Alto Networks JAPAC Instructor of the Year in both 2024 and 2025, and previously the holder of multiple Cisco Distinguished Instructor awards.

Part 5

Case evidence

The engagements Red Education has published, two of them naming the author, and what the company writes about.

Two engagements Red Education published

Red Education publishes case studies of work delivered for named industries, and I am named in two of them. Summarised here in my own words, with each original linked - useful if you want to see what a large training engagement actually looks like before you commission one.

Fortinet at scale, for a global IT services firm

A multinational IT services company with more than 200,000 staff across sixty countries had won a large deal and did not have the certified Fortinet engineers to deliver it. Forty-three people went through FCP Fundamentals FortiGate Administrator, in mixed-experience groups. The training was the thing standing between a signed contract and a delivery team, which is a different kind of pressure from a scheduled public course.

“Your expertise, hard work, and commitment played a pivotal role in making this training a success.”— the client's project sponsor, writing to Nandagopal Siddegowda and me
Fortinet case study ↗

Developing iRules for BIG-IP, across two cities

A team of engineers split between Singapore and Hong Kong needed to write custom traffic-management logic on their own F5 estate rather than configure around it. Delivered as virtual instructor-led training so both locations sat in one classroom. iRules is the point where BIG-IP stops being a product you configure and becomes one you program, and it rewards being taught by somebody who has had to debug one in production.

Both case studies are published by Red Education and remain their copyright. The summaries above are written here; the quotation is the client's own words as Red Education published them. Read the originals:

What Red Education writes about

Red Education runs a blog on certifications, careers and the state of security training. Their index is drawn after the page loads, so only the featured article can be linked directly from here; the rest are behind the index link below. Read on 16 August 2026.

F5 Certification: career pathways and salary expectations

The featured article on the day this section was written, and relevant here: F5 is one of the platforms I teach. It walks through what the F5 certification track leads to in career terms and what the market pays for it - the question most students actually arrive with, and one a course outline never answers.

Official sources

Every fact on this page is read from Red Education's own pages, listed here so it can be checked. Nothing above comes from memory; when one of these pages changes, this page is re-verified before it is edited.

Read and verified on 9 and 14 July, 6 and 16 August, and 6 October 2026; figures quoted as published on those dates. Two of Red Education's indexes are drawn by script in the browser and cannot be enumerated by fetching, which is why the case studies and articles listed are the ones that have actually been read.

A word of thanks

I began teaching through Red Education in 2021 and joined full-time as a Senior Instructor in 2023, which turned out to be one of the best professional decisions of my career. Behind every class I deliver stands an operations team spanning five regions that makes complex logistics look effortless, account managers who genuinely care about outcomes, and a standard of quality that pushes me to be better every single session. This page is my public thank-you to the people of Red Education, for trusting me with their classrooms and their students.
