What the web remembers

Before ronutz.com there were two domains, nutzmann.net and ntz.com.br, and the Internet Archive kept them. 94 archived pages, read on 2026-10-03, were saved in full, printed and catalogued. Here, era by era: what each site was, when, what it offered and what it contained, with a link to every capture so the record can be checked.

The first capture is from 25 August 2004, 22 years before this page was built. The home page of that day already linked three small tools, a bits-and-bytes calculator, an IP addressing calculator and a network cabling pinout: the oldest ancestors of the tools on this site.

Where this comes from

Every statement on this page was read from the Wayback Machine's captures of the two domains on 2026-10-03; nothing is quoted from memory. Each capture was saved as the archive's raw bytes with its images, stylesheets and scripts folded in, rendered offline and printed, and the inventory under each section links to the archive copy, so a reader can open any page as it was. Where the archive never stored an image, the print shows a gap and the catalogue says so. Client names that appear on the old pages are left to the archive; this page describes the work by shape.

nutzmann.net, the Nützmann Networks site

What it was: The first site of Nützmann Networks Consultoria em Comunicação de Dados e Tecnologia da Informação LTDA., the consultancy constituted in São Paulo in 2003, presented under the brand nützmann.net and written, in Portuguese, in the plural voice of a firm. Its home page claimed thirteen years in the market, its partners page a presence in the field since 1996, and its areas-of-work page a start in 1991, three ways of counting the same path.
How it was built: A Flash intro at the root, which the archive did not keep, then a frameset of header, side menu and content in the manner of 2004: .htm pages, small sans-serif type, a two-column home with a news strip and a mailing-list box, a design credit and a hosting credit in the footer. About thirty pages. Services, success cases, the team page and the reference library carried a notice that the new site was still being finished. First captured on 25 August 2004; the same design was still being served in June 2007.
What it offered: Consultancy in networks, telecommunications and information systems: bespoke projects, modular services, management of a vendor's post-sales relationship with strategic clients, service to the network vendors Cabletron, Enterasys and Riverstone and to their clients, network implementation (Internet, branches, LAN, MAN, WAN and wireless) and professional services on installed estates. A mission page argued for technology spend with a return-on-investment formula and a worked example. The areas-of-work page listed the sectors served, public bodies, banks, carriers, industry, media, universities, call centres, and a roster of some forty organisations served by its professionals.
What it contained: Home, company, mission, areas of work and clients, team, an explainer on communication in networks, solutions (LAN, WAN, wireless, Internet, VPN, voice and video), services, success cases, a reference library planned in eight sections, partners (ten companies, from the vendors it worked with to the host of the site), contact, privacy and terms. And the three tools linked from the home page, of which the archive kept the bits-and-bytes calculator: a full page with the 1998 IEC prefix note, a transfer-time example and a table of connection types.

nutzmann.net, year by year

What it was: One capture per year of the home page, to show the domain's successive faces after the 2004 design. By December 2010 a single page titled N T Z had replaced it, under the same legal name, constituted in 2003 in São Paulo. From June 2013 the domain forwarded to ntz.com.br. In December 2013 it carried a WordPress site for a few months, and from March 2014 to at least June 2021 a plain page titled Engenharia de Redes.
How it was built: The 2010 page: a logo, five service lines in capitals (consultancy, auditing, specialised services, project design and management, training), the areas of work in one line each, a wall of some thirty vendor and platform logos, a crisis-management block with a 24-hour on-call line, the languages of service (Portuguese, English, German, Spanish) and the places worked (Brazil, California, Germany, Argentina). The 2014 WordPress site had two posts, a mission statement in English and an announcement of the Engenharia de Redes lines. The page that followed was deliberately plain: numbered lines of scope, a list of the vendor technologies the clients could count on, and a note that services were available in four languages and, pre-scheduled, anywhere.
What it offered: The 2010 page is the clearest statement of the period: Consultoria independente. Não há vínculo a nenhum fornecedor de tecnologia. Independent consultancy, with no tie to any technology vendor, and a declared command of the technologies of the vendors shown. Incident response, troubleshooting of persistent problems, and escalation to vendors' support centres abroad were offered as named services.
What it contained: The 2005, 2006 and 2007 captures, printed with their frames of the same date; the 2010 and 2011 N T Z page; the 2013 forward; the WordPress home and its two posts of 2013 and 2014; the Engenharia de Redes page as captured in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2021.

ntz.com.br, the NTZ Tecnologia site

What it was: The site of NTZ Tecnologia, the trading name of the same company: founded in 2003 by Rodolfo Nützmann, constituted in 2003 in the city of São Paulo, working in the technology market since 1995. Consultancy and specialised services in network communications and information security, in Portuguese, with a success-cases page that reads as a dated chronology from the founding year to 2008.
How it was built: Static HTML with a shared header and footer, a left menu per section, the long keyword titles of the period, a certification strip and social links on the home page. First captured on 18 May 2013 and still served in May 2017; the rebuilt site appears in October 2017. The home page of each year from 2014 to 2017 is in the inventory.
What it offered: Consultancy (definition, management and delivery of projects, supplier selection, comparative analyses), specialised services (project management, preventive and emergency support, installation and configuration, quality of service, service-level definition, site surveys, network assessments, capacity for new applications, addressing and routing design, security and vulnerability audits, upgrades), a portfolio by theme (security, control, operational efficiency, connectivity), and training: three fundamentals courses, modular protocol classes of two to eight hours, and a forty-hour operations and troubleshooting course, taught by Rodolfo Nützmann, a student of network technologies since 1995 and an instructor since 1999. A remote laboratory of real switches, firewalls, routers, IP telephony, wireless equipment and virtual machines, reachable through console servers and VPN, served the courses and proofs of concept, with a free discussion forum beside it. The mission page: an independent services company, free of ties to manufacturers and suppliers. The partners page: not impartial, on the client's side.
What it contained: Home, company (with the market segments served, sector by sector), mission and values, areas of work and clients, consultancy, services, portfolio, training, the laboratory with its equipment list, certifications, success cases (from the 2003 founding and the Brasília contract through a vendor's professional services, through the strategic-support years for another vendor's partners, to projects through integrators in 2007 and 2008), partners, an explainer on communications in networks, contact, privacy and terms, the reference library marked as discontinued, and the same three tools as 2004.

What it was: A rebuilt site on a hosted site builder, titled NTZ Comunicações e Segurança em Rede, Desde 1995. Five pages, with a public hourly rate card, and the consultancy now openly presented as the services of Rodolfo Nützmann and a link to his professional profile. The only 2024 capture of the domain is an empty response; nothing later was published there.
How it was built: Builder templates, a header with the brand and the year, a short menu, long single-column pages. Captured from October 2017 to December 2018. The builder's own fonts and scripts were not part of the archive copy, so the prints may differ slightly in type from the original.
What it offered: Consultancy and services (architecture and engineering of communication and security systems; definition, procurement and deployment management with requirement specification, RFP writing and supplier selection; formation of operations teams with a responsibilities matrix; one- to five-day technology workshops; conduct of tests and proofs of concept), training, a competences page by vendor with F5 as the main focus (pre-sales and training, six years through a distributor and a reseller, the certifications held and the ones in progress in 2018), Palo Alto Networks and others, and a Contrate page with a services list, a public hourly rate card in three time bands and remote-first delivery over video with recorded sessions.
What it contained: Home, about, consultancy and services, competences, and Contrate. The training page was not captured.

ntz.com.br before NTZ

What it was: Not one of these sites. Before the domain carried NTZ Tecnologia, ntz.com.br belonged to Plásticos NTZ, a plastic-bag maker in the interior of São Paulo state, captured from June 2003 to January 2008. It is in the inventory so that nobody mistakes it for an earlier version of the consultancy.
How it was built: A small ASP site with a product catalogue; most of its images were never archived, so the prints are sparse.
What it offered: Plastic bags, refuse sacks, butcher rolls and packaging in general, by its own description.
What it contained: Home, products, company history, purpose, management, distributors, location and contact.

What carried through

The three tools. The 2004 home page linked three tools of its own, a bits-and-bytes calculator, an IP addressing calculator and a network cabling pinout; by 2013 only the first was still the site's own page, the other two names pointing to outside pages. Their descendants are here: the bits-and-bytes calculator was rebuilt in 2026 as Bits, bytes and throughput (by ancestry the oldest tool in the catalogue), the IP calculator became the CIDR calculator, and the pinout lives in the structured cabling article. The record of each, capture by capture, is below.
The independence line, unbroken. 2004: an independent company with no exclusivity ties to specific suppliers. 2010: independent consultancy, no tie to any technology vendor. 2013: free of ties to manufacturers and suppliers, and not impartial, on the client's side. The sentence has grown more careful since: the advisory page now states exactly what is claimed and what is not, including how the work is contracted.
Teaching, never absent. Training and talks were a listed service in 2004; by 2013 there were named courses in a forty-hour format, taught by an instructor since 1999, with a laboratory of real equipment behind them; the 2017 site offered workshops and executive seminars. The authorized vendor training taught today is the same thread.
The relationship between client and vendor as the object of the work. 2004: management of a vendor's post-sales relationship with strategic clients, pre-sales and post-sales. 2013: optimising the relations between clients and their suppliers and partners. 2017: RFP writing, supplier selection, proofs of concept. The career record and the advisory shapes describe the same work from where it stands now.
One company, four names. Constituted in São Paulo in 2003 as Nützmann Networks Consultoria em Comunicação de Dados e Tecnologia da Informação LTDA., it traded as nützmann.net, then as NTZ Tecnologia, then as NTZ Comunicações e Segurança em Rede, and in English, since 2015, as NTZ Technology. The short form is: founded 2003, trading as NTZ Technology since 2015. The 2004 terms page, the 2010 footer, the 2013 contact page and the 2013 chronology all give the same name and year.
