307 Temporary Security Conference (307c)

term

securityevents

A São Paulo security conference whose name declares its own impermanence - 307 is the HTTP status code for a temporary redirect - held in December with villages and a community programme.

The joke carries a real idea. Most conferences are built to become institutions, and the cost of that ambition is the succession problem that eventually threatens all of them. An event that announces itself as temporary is free to exist for exactly as long as its organisers want to run it, and to stop without the stopping being a failure. Whether that is wisdom or self-fulfilling prophecy is the kind of argument this scene enjoys having out loud.

Also known as: 307c, 307 temporary, conferencia temporaria
