Carding

jargon

securitydark web

The trade in stolen payment-card data and the economy around it: dumps are magnetic-stripe tracks for cloning physical cards, CVVs are card-not-present details for online use, and fullz bundles a card with enough identity data to open accounts in the victim's name.

Carding is where cybercrime professionalised. Its forums built reputation scores, escrow services, dispute resolution and vendor reviews - an institutional structure that made specialisation possible, so that the person who breaches a retailer, the person who sells the data and the person who cashes it out are three different people. Chip cards and tokenisation collapsed the value of dumps; the trade moved to card-not-present fraud and account takeover, which is where it mostly lives now.

Also known as: card fraud, dumps, fullz, cvv shop
