QoS - a Juniper training centre for Latin America
Teaching the manufacturer's certification courses since 2006, from inside an integrator.
QoS is the professional-services division of Grupo Binario, and it has operated as a Juniper training centre for Latin America - delivering the manufacturer's certification courses since 2006, with more than three thousand students by 2016.
A training centre run from inside an integrator is a specific arrangement with a specific advantage: the instructors are the engineers who implement the networks, so the course material is tested against deployments rather than only against a curriculum. It has a matching risk, which is that teaching capacity competes with billable project work for the same people.
One detail from its 2016 announcement is worth keeping because it describes a real friction in certification: students previously finished a course and then travelled elsewhere to sit the exam, adding cost and delay. Offering the exam at the same place and on the same date removed a gap that had nothing to do with learning and everything to do with logistics - which is the kind of problem that decides how many engineers a country actually certifies.
- Portal Information Management, November 2016 - QoS, a Grupo Binario company, offering Juniper certification on the same date and site as the training; teaching the manufacturer's certification courses since 2006, with 3,208 students by then; quotes Bruno Carvalho, senior systems engineer
- OverBR, November 2013 - QoS as the Grupo Binario services division and the first partner in Latin America to migrate to Juniper Partner Support Services; around 200 Juniper certifications across the group; services span IP routing architecture, multicast, MPLS and VPN, end-to-end network security and assisted operation
