The standard family of cryptographic hash functions.

Secure Hash Algorithm (NIST FIPS 180-4) is the family that includes SHA-256 and SHA-384, used for integrity, certificate signatures, and as the hash inside HMAC. SHA-1 is now considered broken for collision resistance.
