A small, unmodal terminal editor that shows its own shortcuts along the bottom of the screen.
Nano's virtue is that it requires nothing to be known in advance, since the control keys are printed right there, which is why distributions install it as the default for editing a config file quickly. It succeeded Pico from the Pine mail client. For a two-line change on a box you are not going to live on, it is the right tool and not a lesser one.
