ISC2

term

securitygovernance & risk

Stands for: ISC2 (formerly (ISC)², the International Information System Security Certification Consortium)

The certification body behind the CISSP - the credential most often gatekeeping senior security roles.

ISC2 (formerly styled (ISC)², rebranded in 2023) maintains the CISSP, CCSP for cloud, and a members' code of ethics with real teeth: certified members can be stripped for violations. Where SANS/GIAC test hands-on depth, ISC2 credentials test breadth of the common body of knowledge - which is exactly why hiring pipelines lean on them.

Also known as: isc2, (isc)2, cissp, ccsp
