Enterprise Network Event: the 1988 trade show positioned as the OSI counterpart to the TCP/IP demonstrations.
Held as OSI's procurement mandates were at their most confident, it was intended to show enterprise buyers a coherent OSI ecosystem. What it showed instead, read with hindsight, is how much of that ecosystem was still described rather than shipped. The two 1988 shows are worth reading together: one demonstrated a working network between rivals, the other demonstrated an intention.
