DNS over HTTPS

acronym

networkingprivacy

Stands for: DNS over HTTPS (DoH)

Sending DNS lookups inside encrypted HTTPS so they cannot be read or tampered with in transit.

Traditional DNS is plaintext, so anyone on the path can see and even alter which sites you resolve. DoH (and its sibling DoT) wraps those queries in TLS, improving privacy. It also stirs debate, because it can bypass network-level filtering that some operators rely on.

Also known as: doh, dns over https, dns over tls, dot, encrypted dns
