The three core goals of information security: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Confidentiality keeps data from the wrong eyes, integrity keeps it from being altered, and availability keeps it reachable when needed. Almost every security control serves one of these three, and they often trade off against each other.
Also known as: cia triad, confidentiality integrity availability
