Stands for: Chaos Computer Club (CCC)

Europe's oldest and most influential hacker association - German, political, and deeply serious about technology and civil rights.

Founded in 1981, the CCC made its name with the 1984 Btx hack that exposed a German bank system's flaws by donating the proceeds back. Its annual Chaos Communication Congress (the C3, between Christmas and New Year) and the summer Chaos Communication Camp are institutions; its magazine Die Datenschleuder and its expert testimony to courts and parliaments define the club's blend of hands-on hacking and public-interest advocacy.

Also known as: ccc, chaos computer club, c3, chaos communication congress
