Stands for: Campus Party - the tent-city technology festival
The tent-city technology festival: thousands of campistas pitching tents inside a convention pavilion for a week of talks, hackathons, and 24/7 connectivity.
Born in Spain in 1997 as a LAN party and scaled into a traveling festival, Campus Party found its largest audiences in Brazil, where editions since 2008 turned the acampamento into a rite of passage: sleep in the tent, live on the arena floor, code through the night on famously oversized bandwidth. The program spans robotics, astronomy, games, startups, and security - breadth being the point. It is not a security conference and never claimed to be; it is where a great many Brazilian technologists, this site's author's students among them, first found their tribe.
