Mobile device management pioneer, now part of Ivanti.
MobileIron was one of the pioneers of mobile device management, building the platform enterprises first used to enroll, secure, and wipe fleets of smartphones as they flooded into the workplace.
MobileIron courseware remains in Red Education's regional catalogues for the installed base that still runs it, taught within the same unified-endpoint-management context its successor products live in.
Founded in 2007 in Mountain View, MobileIron helped define MDM as a category and listed on NASDAQ in 2014. In December 2020 it was acquired by Ivanti, together with Pulse Secure, and its technology continues inside Ivanti's unified endpoint management line - a lineage note this site records the same way it does for its career-era vendors.

MobileIron
MobileIron was founded in 2007 - the iPhone's year - on the bet that phones were about to become the enterprise endpoint nobody was managing. Ajay Mishra and Suresh Batchu built the platform that gave IT a policy plane for devices it did not own: enrollment, configuration, app catalogs, selective wipe. When the BYOD wave broke over corporate IT, MobileIron was the specialist standing where it landed, and 'mobile device management' grew through enterprise mobility management into unified endpoint management with the company's releases marking each stage.

The category consolidates desktops, mobiles, and rugged devices under unified endpoint management; MobileIron pivots with it, adding zero-sign-on and mobile threat defense as the perimeter dissolves.
- Ivanti's double acquisition
September 28, 2020: Ivanti, backed by Clearlake Capital and TA Associates, announces the ~$872 million acquisition ($7.05 per share, a 27 percent premium) - alongside Pulse Secure, both closing December 1. MobileIron's platform becomes the UEM core of Ivanti Neurons.
