AX4B - one product, then a catalogue

Sao Paulo integrator founded in 2006 around Microsoft Dynamics AX, later expanding by acquisition.

AX4B was founded in Sao Paulo in 2006 to work exclusively with Microsoft Dynamics AX, and grew from that single product into a national integrator with offices across seven states and a catalogue spanning management software, cloud, backup, security and process automation.

The trajectory is a clean example of a pattern this timeline records repeatedly in miniature. A firm starts as the specialist in one product, which is how a small company earns the right to be called; then the specialism becomes a third of revenue rather than all of it, and the way to grow is to buy the next capability rather than to learn it - a systems integrator in 2017, then a SAP Basis consultancy in Porto Alegre the same year.

The SAP purchase is the interesting one, because it crosses a line most Microsoft partners do not. Its stated logic at the time was that the two vendors were converging - SAP’s S/4 running on Microsoft’s cloud - so a firm fluent in both had somewhere to stand that neither single-vendor partner could reach.
