Kevin Mitnick's memoir of his years as a fugitive, written as a chase narrative: the social-engineering calls reconstructed line by line, the identity changes, the surveillance, and the arrest.
It is the most readable technical account of social engineering ever published, precisely because it shows the preparation rather than the trick - the hours of research that make a two-minute phone call work. Read against Takedown, written from the pursuers' side, it forms the field's clearest example of the same events producing irreconcilable stories, and the honest way to teach it is to assign both and let the discrepancies stand.
