egress fee
termcloudgovernance & risk
What a cloud provider charges for data leaving its network - typically free to receive and priced to send.
The asymmetry is the strategy: importing data costs nothing and exporting it costs money, so the bill grows with any architecture that moves data out, and shrinks with any that keeps it in. That shapes real decisions - where backups live, whether analytics run next to the data, and how expensive leaving would be. It is worth pricing that last one before it matters rather than during a migration.
