The constellation of Security BSides conferences held across Brazil - São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Florianópolis, Vitória, João Pessoa, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre and Curitiba among them - each free, locally organised, and part of the global BSides circuit.
BSides was designed to be forkable: any community can run one, which is why a country the size of Brazil ended up with a dozen rather than one. The effect is decentralisation of the thing that usually centralises - a student in Recife or Vitória can reach a real security conference without a flight to São Paulo. Read next to the older single-city events, the circuit is the clearest evidence that the Brazilian scene's answer to concentration has been replication rather than expansion.
