Seal Sistemas - the barcode is an interface
Brazilian integrator in mobility, automation and enterprise visibility, founded 2001.
Seal Sistemas is a Sao Paulo company working in mobility, automation and what it calls enterprise visibility: the equipment and software that let an organisation know where its things are.
This is a corner of the industry that networking rarely looks at directly and depends on constantly. Handheld terminals, barcode and radio-frequency identification, industrial printing and the wireless coverage they all assume are the layer where a warehouse or a shop floor becomes legible to the systems above it.
The visibility framing is the accurate one. A barcode is not a label, it is an interface: the point at which a physical object is allowed to make an assertion about itself to software. Everything downstream, from stock accuracy to a delivery notification, rests on that assertion having been captured correctly on a device somebody carried.
It also explains why this work sits beside networking rather than inside logistics. The coverage has to be continuous where people walk, the devices have to authenticate, and the failure mode is not a dropped page but a pallet that the system believes is somewhere it is not.
