The Fatecs are Sao Paulo state technology faculties, offering applied technologist degrees that are shorter than an engineering course and aimed directly at a job. They are a different answer to the same question the universities answer, and they reach a different person.
The distinction matters to anybody reading this site's own career record, which includes years of engineering and business study without a completed degree. A system that only recognises the five-year path treats an incomplete one as a failure; a system with a three-year applied route treats it as a different route.
That is a policy choice about who gets to work in this industry, and it is made by whoever decides which qualifications an employer may ask for.
