Teltec Solutions - Florianopolis, and a Cisco award for training

Brazilian ICT integrator from Santa Catarina, twice recognised by Cisco across Latin America.

Teltec Solutions is an information and communications technology integrator headquartered in Florianopolis, in Santa Catarina, with branches in Brasilia, Curitiba and Recife. Cisco named it a Latin American winner in 2013 and its best public sector partner in the region in 2016.

The stated reason for the first award is the part worth keeping. Cisco’s engineering director in Brazil attributed it to continuous investment in training and certification, and to the company having built an internal culture around it - which is a manufacturer publicly rewarding a partner not for revenue but for how many of its people learned the product properly.

That is the commercial argument for certification stated by the party with the least incentive to overstate it, and it is the same argument this site makes from the instructor’s side.

The location matters too. Santa Catarina has a technology economy of its own, and an integrator serving federal government, education and health from Florianopolis rather than Sao Paulo or Brasilia is evidence of it.

The company did not begin as Teltec. It was born on 18 March 1991 as Santec, founded in Florianopolis by Glauco Brites Ramos with two partners, working out of a furniture warehouse belonging to one of them with two employees. Santec took part in bringing telephony to 110 municipalities of Santa Catarina and grew to 180 people, and when the sector was privatised in 1998 the business had to reinvent itself for the first time. The current legal entity dates only to 2002, which is a reminder that a Brazilian company is often considerably older than the CNPJ it trades under.
